Yoruba Obas meeting in 1937

In 1937 the first meeting of the Yoruba Obas took place in the ancient city of Oyo at the palace hall of the Alafin of Oyo. Five first class Yoruba Obas were in attendance. Ooni Aderemi was appointed as the permanent chairman of what came to be known as the Yoruba Council of Obas. Subsequent meetings were held annually and moved around the domains of the traditional rulers.
